Tribological properties of nanostructured zirconia coatings deposited by plasma spraying
[ PUBLICATION ]
The nanostructured and traditional zirconia coatings were deposited by atmospheric plasma spray. The friction and wear properties of these two zirconia coatings against stainless steel were investigated with a block-on-ring tester under dry friction conditions. It was found that the plasma-sprayed nanostructured zirconia coating possessed better wear resistance than that of traditional zirconia coating. The wear rates of the nanostructured zirconia coatings are about two-fifths of those ...

Purpose: This study aimed to investigate the clinicopathological features and prognosis of gallbladder neuroendocrine carcinoma (GB-NEC).
Patients and Methods: Fifteen patients with GB-NEC and 171 patients with gallbladder adenocarcinoma (GB-ADC) treated in two tertiary medical centers between 2009 and 2015 were included. The clinicopathological features and prognostic risk factors of GB-NEC were analyzed retrospectively. A propensity score matching in a 1:2 ratio was used to compare the ...

BACKGROUND: This study aimed to investigate the predictive significance of preoperative red cell volume distribution width (RDW) level for prognosis and to establish nomograms incorporating preoperative blood markers to predict postoperative complications and survival in patients with colorectal liver metastases (CRLM).
METHODS: This retrospective study included 380 enrolled CRLM patients who underwent hepatic resection. Predictors of postoperative complications were explored using ...

Background: To investigate the predictive role of D-dimer and its combination of preoperative CA19-9 for lymph node metastasis (LNM) and prognosis in intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma (ICC) patients who underwent curative-intent resection.
Methods: One hundred and seventy-three patients admitted to our hospital between April 2012 and December 2018 were included. The combination of preoperative D-dimer and CA19-9 (CPDC) was scored as 0 (decreased D-dimer levels with decreased CA19-9 ...

An analysis of the annual expenditure per liver cancer patient in China: from the perspective of the whole disease course
[ PUBLICATION ]
Objective To estimate the mean annual expenditure of patients with prevalent liver cancer in China on the perspective of the natural progression of the disease and to provide baseline information for liver cancer-related disease burden estimation and evaluation of prevention strategies. Methods A multicenter survey on liver cancer was conducted between 2012 and 2014 in 13 sites where the cancer screening program was conducted in Urban China, by face-to-face interviews with ...

BACKGROUND: To establish upgraded nomograms incorporating neoadjuvant chemotherapy (NAC)-related factors and preoperative testing markers to predict postoperative complications, progression-free survival (PFS) and overall survival (OS) in patients with colorectal liver metastases (CRLM).
METHODS: Multivariate regression analyses were used to reveal independent predictors for postoperative complications, PFS and OS. Nomograms incorporating independent predictors were constructed, and ...

In this paper, we propose a rateless coded transmission scheme for the multi-user downlink of Cloud Radio Access Network (C-RAN). In the network, multiple users are served by a cluster of remote radio heads (RRH), which are connected to the building baseband units (BBU) pool through the fronthaul links with limited capacity. In the proposed transmission scheme, the precoder and compressor at the BBU pool, and the decoding algorithm at the users are designed. To further improve the ...

We consider a Cloud Radio Access Network (C-RAN) uplink system composed of single user, multiple remote radio heads (RRH) and baseband unit (BBU) pool. The user encodes the messages with rateless code which are then modulated and sent. Each RRH which covers the user quantizes the received signals and transfers them to the BBU pool through the high rate fronthaul link. The BBU pool applies belief propagation (BP) algorithm for joint decompression and decoding for the user information. In ...

A Novel Model Based on CXCL8-Derived Radiomics for Prognosis Prediction in Colorectal Cancer
[ PUBLICATION ]
Introduction: Prognosis prediction is essential to improve therapeutic strategies and to achieve better clinical outcomes in colorectal cancer (CRC) patients. Radiomics based on high-throughput mining of quantitative medical imaging is an emerging field in recent years. However, the relationship among prognosis, radiomics features, and gene expression remains unknown. Methods: We retrospectively analyzed 141 patients (from study 1) diagnosed with CRC from February 2018 to October 2019 ...

Development and Validation of a Nomogram-Based Prognostic Evaluation Model for Sarcomatoid Hepatocellular Carcinoma
[ PUBLICATION ]
IntroductionSarcomatoid hepatocellular carcinoma (SHC) is a rare subtype of liver cancer with extremely poor prognosis. This study aimed to identify the prognostic factors and develop an exclusive and efficient nomogram to predict cancer-specific survival (CSS) for SHC.MethodsThe data on patients diagnosed with SHC from January 1973 to December 2015 were retrieved from the Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results (SEER) database, and these patients were included as the training ...

Influence of particles on the loading capacity and the temperature rise of water film in Ultra-high speed hybrid bearing
[ PUBLICATION ]
Ultra-high speed machining technology enables high efficiency, high precision and high integrity of machined surface. Previous researches of hybrid bearing rarely consider influences of solid particles in lubricant and ultra-high speed of hybrid bearing, which cannot be ignored under the high speed and micro-space conditions of ultra-high speed water-lubricated hybrid bearing. Considering the impact of solid particles in lubricant, turbulence and temperature viscosity effects of ...

Development of a Metastasis-Related Immune Prognostic Model of Metastatic Colorectal Cancer and Its Usefulness to Immunotherapy
[ PUBLICATION ]
Background: Post-surgical recurrence of the metastatic colorectal cancer (mCRC) remains a challenge, even with adjuvant therapy. Moreover, patients show variable outcomes. Here, we set to identify gene models based on the perspectives of intrinsic cell activities and extrinsic immune microenvironment to predict the recurrence of mCRC and guide the adjuvant therapy. Methods: An RNA-based gene expression analysis of CRC samples (total = 998, including mCRCs = 344, non-mCRCs = 654) was ...
